Last night, I slept. I SLEPT!!!

Not the kind of sleep where you wake up ten times, check the time, turn around, fall asleep again, wake up again. I mean, I really slept. Deeply. Straight through until 6:30 in the morning. I can’t believe it. I slept.

And when I opened my eyes, the first thing that came into my mind was an artistic idea.

I suddenly knew how I wanted to shoot the photos I had been thinking about. It was one of those little flashes that arrive from nowhere, when something that was confused in your head suddenly becomes completely clear. I remember lying there thinking, Oh, yes. I can do it like this.

And maybe that sounds like such a small thing, but it wasn’t small to me. My first thought of the day was creativity.

I got up, had a shower, got dressed and went out for my walk. While I was walking, I had a video call with Marco about our live painting project. We talked for about forty minutes, planning things, throwing ideas around, laughing, joking. And when I hung up, I had this strange little moment where I thought: Oh my God. This is what lightness feels like.

I had forgotten.

I had genuinely forgotten how beautiful it feels to have a conversation with someone and come out of it lighter than you were before. To talk without everything becoming heavy. Without there always being a problem somewhere that needs to be solved. To talk about life, work, ideas, even difficult things, and still laugh. To joke. To smile. To hang up the phone and simply feel good.

I love that feeling.

Then I came home and did the photo shoot. The idea I’d had at 6:30 in the morning actually worked. I played with clothes, poses and images, and I had fun doing it. I ate food I liked. I sat down and started editing the photographs. Later I recorded some videos for the live painting project. I created things. I worked. I walked. I laughed. I ate. I made plans.

And tonight I realised how happy I am.

Not because something extraordinary happened today. Actually, that’s exactly what makes today feel so extraordinary to me. Nothing enormous happened. There was no dramatic revelation, no life-changing event. It was simply a beautiful day.

A light day.

A day full of things that belong to me.

My art. My photography. My music. My projects. My body walking through the city. Food I enjoy. A conversation that made me laugh. Ideas appearing in my head before I’d even properly woken up.

And maybe this is one of the most beautiful things I’m discovering right now: life doesn’t have to be intense because something hurts. It can be intense because you’re interested in it. Because you’re curious. Because you’re creating. Because you’re laughing so much during a phone call that afterwards you suddenly notice how light your body feels.

Today, for the first time in a while, I didn’t feel like I was trying to get somewhere.

I was just living my life.

And fuck, I really like my life.
